I had very productive office hours this week, meeting with several Morrisville citizens with exceptional ideas for innovation and infrastructure. Discussions involved a new Open Data Institute, a Tennis Training facility and exploring a new program for students to become engaged with local government.
Jason Hare: I met with Jason Hare, Morrisville citizen, and Raleigh Open Data Manager, who is working with me to move forward the Open Data Initiative in Morrisville, along with bringing the Open Data Institute to Morrisville. This will be a global headquarters, where there will be training on open data, and entrepreneurs can test open data to create new applications.
We are looking to locate the ODI in the Outlet mall as the investors have agreed to have 3000 square feet dedicated for an innovation center.
Next steps will be to receive a business plan from Jason and meet with the Outlet Mall owners.
Tennis Training facility: Discussions still continue on the location of the tennis training facility in Morrisivlle. The investors will be coming back in two weeks to look at more property and we have connected them with Jeff Ammons to see if we can coordinate with the Hotel/Motel tax ice rink project.
Annurag Agarwal: I am meeting Mr. Agarwal on Sunday, a high school student interested in the Town having an internship, similar to a program Durham runs, known as the Mayors Ward.
