Immigration Update with Jeremy Robbins, New American Economy

Watch the discussion from Friday June 4th for a Virtual Fireside Chat with Jeremy Robbins, Executive Director, New American Economy to discuss the introduction of the bipartisan Equal Access to Green cards for Legal Employment (EAGLE) Act by Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) and Rep. John Curtis (R-UT).

What would the EAGLE Act do?
The Equal Access to Green cards for Legal Employment (EAGLE) Act would address decades-long — and in the case of Indian immigrants, centuries-long — wait times for applicants from places like China, India, and the Philippines by eliminating caps for employment-based visas and raising the family visa cap from 7 percent to 15 percent. In fact, a lot of the immigrants who will be impacted already live and work in America, many in STEM fields with degrees they earned from American universities. This legislation can have a very positive effect on economic growth in the United States as it would accelerate the path to citizenship for highly skilled immigrants and would affect many Asian Americans tech workers in North Carolina, who can stay here and create jobs rather than somewhere else in the world.
