On Wed am, I attended a Cary Chamber Economic Development meeting, to listen to the team from SCORE, and Wake Tech, discuss how they are providing mentoring services to small businesses.
I shared my ideas on how we need to provide better access for entrepreneurs to mentors, and that there is very significant momentum in Morrisville and the Triangle, on start up development and that we need to increase awareness of these types of services, by perhaps, having an on line portal, which lists all of the mentors available in our community. I am hoping to work with our CHamber to bring SCORE to our Hotties Program and also look at other options.
Based on my conversations with Venture Investors in Boston and Silicon Valley, we need to increase mentoring and make access to capital easier to drive small business growth and turn innovative ideas into real companies, creating jobs and recruiting more talent to the region.
The meeting ended with a report from Sandy Jordan, Economic Development Director for the Town of Cary, who discussed the Met Life project, more opportunities coming to Cary in the future.
