Last evening, I attended the Raleigh Chamber Partners Dinner, an event to celebrate the vision for Wake County and to celebrate the achievments of the Wake County School Board, the Wake County Commissioners, and the City of Raleigh.
Thanks to all the sponsors and also many companies were in attendance as well.
The networking reception was well attended, followed by the dinner, and many elected officials from across Wake County were in attendance.
We were able to hear from Wake County Commissioner Chair, Joe Bryan, who highlighted the unanimous decision with the school board, to have the school bond on the ballot in October.
Bill Fletcher highlighted the importance of the new school superintendent, getting on board, along with the importance of the bond passing, with 3700 new children coming into the school system every year.
Mayor Nancy Mcfarlane, speaking on behalf of the City of Raleigh and the Wake Mayors Association, highilghted the continued development in downtown, the economic impact of the Blue Grass festival, and the $75 million transit bond on the ballot in the October elections. She also said the Wake Mayors Association was working with the Legislature, advocating for the General Assembly to not repeal the Jordan Lake rules, and to watch closely effect of tax reform, etc.
Overall, this was a wonderful evening, and I really enjoyed the opportunity to hear from our Wake County leaders on how things are progressing in Wake County.
Picutred here with Mayor Ronnie Williams, of Garner, the All American Town! (this is his phrase)
