Visit from Chinese delegation!

This week, Mayor Stohlman and Council welcomed a delegation from China, along with some of the investors, looking to invest in the Chinatown project in Morrisville, to be located in the Outlet Mall in Morrisville.

During this visit,  we met welcomed Mr. Feng Xubin, General Manager of the World’s largest commodity market “Yiwu City”, China.  We also met with Dr. Fanny Cheuk, from Hong Kong, and Kelly Yung, the two principals involved in the China Town Project.

“Yiwu City” is interested in developing its US presence in NC Chinatown in Morrisville. This is Mr. Feng’s site visit to Morrisville. The partnership with “Yiwu City” is important to the success of NC Chinatown, and would be the first global commodity market or trading hub in North Carolina and the US of its kind.

During the visit, I was able to organize meetings with NC Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and NC Commerce, so the delegation could share their vision for the state of North Carolina, along with receive feedback on state economic development programs, which may help move this initiative forward.

Thanks for your interest in North Carolina and we look forward to receiving plans on this exciting project to creat jobs and bring investment to our state!
