Councilman Rao Welcomes Visit By India’s Largest Biotech And Pharmaceutical Organization In Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, N.C. – Steve Rao (http://steverao.com), an at-large member of the Morrisville Town Council, has announced that he hosted a visit from the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA), India’s largest biotech and pharmaceutical organization, to Morrisville on April 19. The delegation representing FABA visited the Triangle from the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and showcased their region’s success in and commitment to the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, as well as explored strategic partnerships with Triangle biotech and pharmaceutical companies. With the Triangle’s international reputation as an innovative biotechnological and pharmaceutical hub, FABA is focusing on the area as a potential region in which to partner. The visit took place at the Morrisville-based company Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies, a bio-pharmaceutical contract manufacturing company recently formed through the acquisition of the former Diosynth Biotechnologies and Avecia Biologics from Merck & Co. Inc.

Through his position as councilman, Rao works to forge connections between the Asian biotechnology companies and the bio-pharmaceutical industries in the Triangle. By hosting the FABA’s visit to Morrisville, he hopes to generate business relationships that will bring new jobs to the Triangle and utilize the innovative talent in the region. Rao constantly searches for opportunities that will leverage the Triangle’s own diversity for economic expansion, establish a competitive advantage for the region, encourage foreign investment and create job growth as well as providing access to global markets for the life sciences industry in the Research Triangle Park and in North Carolina.

QUOTES:

“I am pleased to have received the honor of hosting the visiting delegation from the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations,” said Rao. “During my tenure on the Council, I have been working on strategies to establish more global partnerships in the technology and life sciences industry with the town of Morrisville, the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce and our local companies in these industries. Given the increasing pool of global talent in our town and region, I cannot think of a better place to have these types of discussions, and I look forward to similar international visits in the future.”
