India Independence Day!

On Sunday, August 18,  Indian Americans throughout the Triangle gathered together at the Hindu Society of North Carolina’s Temple in Morrisville to celebrate the 66th anniversary of India’s independence from British rule. Many dance performances, cultural presentations and plenty of delicious Indian food (of course) accompanied the festivities. I was honored to be able to spend some time with North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper and Swadesh Chatterjee, a national Indian American leader and activist dedicated to fostering a better relationship among American and Indian people, politicians and businesses. Other local Morrisville, Cary and North Carolina state officials also attended and were honored during the cultural activities.  Much thanks to the Hindu Society for hosting and all the volunteers who made this day a joyous and educational event!
